Ahhh, the eternal issue of DS Envy.

"My DS is longer than your DS"
"When it come to a DS, length doesn't always translate into quality. You can have a freakishly long DS that just lays there"
"It's not how big your DS is, but rather what you do with it that counts"

I see this going into all the wrong places...

(barn door is now open)

It ain't the length of your Dark Star, its the girth that matters.

I have heard it called the "Brown Rosebud Cafe" but never "The Barn Door".

And why oh why, in the name of all that is good, would you want to see things going into the wrong places?

All innuendo aside, any thoughts on "Last Resort" premiering in a couple of weeks? Sounds like a remake of Crimson Tide.

Just thought I get some input from an old seaman.

I have no interest in giving you any input...old or otherwise. You may call on dire or see if rob will switch genus and species if you feel the need to scratch that itch.

I'll probably watch - just from what I've seen on the trailer clips it looks interesting if a bit unrealistic. The storyline seems pretty far fetched and unlikely, but that never stopped Hollywood. We'll see how they can drag it out over a season. At least they had the lexicon accurate with the brief glimpses we've had.

In any event, it has to be better than Crimson Tide. That movie could draw a vacuum on deep space......you know, kind of like dire.

Had a good family friend was XO on The Gudgeon SSN 567 in the early 70's who had the same reaction to Crimson Tide. He did like Red October and Das Boot.

Oh yeah, I have to think Das Boot rates well with all subsurface travelers; those few I've known liked it in any case...another, in the more cheesey Hollywood spirit, Run Silent, Run Deep, was well liked if only because Burt Teeth Lancaster just has to be the best over-sized able seaman there ever was, and anybody that wins Debra Kerr gets my vote--from Here to Eternity even...

Don Rickles was in that- RSRD. What a thespian.

The director arranged for him to spend time aboard a real ship so he could get familiar with everything. He told Lancaster about that and Burt said, "Don't worry about any of that shit. Just show up on time for your scenes and know your lines."

Burt was the best. Atlantic City baby!

Speaking of things in the wrong places, what kind of radical surgery would it take to get shot of that hideous unimproved excrescence that's been disfiguring the forum for far too long?

"excrescence" is by far the word of the year.

Ah, Rob you have got away with words (but not got away with that many recently).

Basically that's a nice way of saying he (Rich But Nasty With-it) is a scheisskopf.

I've been saying that for a long time and now he's proving it.
On a daily basis.

The remark about 'not realising people took this place so serious (sic)' following hard on the heels of the projectile vomit of the 'you killed Jerry' post took disingenuous to hitherto unknown depths of meaning. I tell you, Jacky, my gob is still making slow circles of my cranium such was the severity of the smacking it got right there.

All well you Midlands Maniac?

Yes, every time the moron posts, my irony meter goes right off the scale.

But good to see you go from erudite i.e.'excrescence' to Rab C. i.e. 'gob' in oh, but a blink of the eye.

Actually life seems to be improving at the moment, but not without its 'challenges'. Thanks for asking ;)

I hope things are better with you than they were last we enquired after each others well being.

Just for you:
